Have turned into a lifestyle brand…
Design Nº Five is the culmination of years of experience in the Interior Design world and a love of the natural beauty of our coastlines here is the US and around the world.
While staging and designing coastal homes, Beth Odence and her Design No. Five design team were inspired by what they encountered washed up on the local beaches. These wash ashores were incorporated into the firms Interior Design projects to complement the beauty of the surroundings. This is what influenced us to create our own fabrics and wallcoverings. Five years into this journey and as we move into 2024, we are exclusively a Coastal Inspired textile, wallpaper and custom and ready-made pillows company.
Atop Cotuit Harbor here on Cape Cod sits our DN5 design studio. This creative space is housed in Sea Captain James Childs’ Home dating back to the late 1700s. Oh if these walls could talk, so many stories and secrets to tell. Many different businesses have been run from this location. Cotuit was central to the whaling industry with ships from all around the world coming and going on a regular basis. Just think about all the wonderful treasures and creations brought home to our little village. Seems pretty fitting that today our growing textile and wallpaper company is sending coastal inspired goods around the world.
Our story The Color of Linen was featured inCape Cod Life Magazine.
Beth Odence
Designing coastal-inspired fabrics is my passion, merging a love for the water with a commitment to an eco-friendly world.
My life is a canvas painted with color, eclectic design, black coffee, and an iPhone filled with snapshots capturing the essence of daily inspiration. Married to a sailor, artist, and all-around creative spirit, life is a perpetual journey—exploring new places and creating memories.
Seven years ago, we embraced Cape Cod life, residing in a Sea Captain's home steeped in history. Though a 'wash ashore' from upstate New York, coastal settings have always resonated with me.
A comfortable, inspiring studio is my sanctuary. Surroundings matter—they tell our story. Living in a coastal community, our fabric designs draw inspiration from beach treasures, reflecting the authenticity of Cape Cod.
I invite you to explore our coastal-inspired fabrics.
From Field to Fabric
At Design Nº Five, our commitment lies in offering sustainable and distinctive fabrics that elevate your home. Every design undergoes a meticulous process, starting with hand-sketching and culminating in printing on 100% Belgian Linen sourced from Libeco, using the most eco-friendly inks available.
Linen, derived from the flax plant, forms the foundation of our eco-sustainable fabric, produced without the use of pesticides. The inherent nature of both our fabric and inks renders our products ideal for homes with pets and children, combining the perfect hand and weight for upholstery, accent pillows, and window treatments. The unique charm of our hand-drawn designs effortlessly adds the much-needed "wow factor" to your living spaces.
